If you have won an auction and the seller is refusing to sell to you or has
taken your money and is not sending your winnings here are some things to do
- Request Sellers Contact Details.
Request Contact Details
and phone or write giving a deadline for receiving the winnings or your money back in full.
If the contact details are false or incomplete report then
Rules & Safety Web Form
- Report to
Rules & Safety Web Form
as a non selling seller.
- Check for your seller being NARU'ed (Not A Registered User).
This is likely to happen if enough other buyers have reported the seller to eBay.
If this happens the likelihood of the purchase going ahead successfully becomes more remote.
- If you paid by cheque contact your bank, tell them about it, ask them to write to
his bank.
- If you paid by credit card contact your card issuer, they might be able to do a charge back
and reclaim your payment.
- If you paid via an electronic payment method (PayPal, BillPoint, NoChex etc) contact them,
they will not be able to give out the sellers details but should be informed and may suspend his
membership
- Contact his local trading standards office
- If you still get nowhere use the small claims court (it can sometimes work to fill in the
paper work and send a
copy to the seller, giving a deadline to pay up or you will file the claim with the court [don't
forget to claim expenses and time taken chasing this])
- Make a claim on the
Fraud Protection Program
- Leave negative feedback once you are sure all possible courses of action have been pursued.
- Search for other recently ended auctions by same seller.
Search by Seller
Contact the other buyers and see if they are having similar problems.
If they are get them to do all the above as well
